Speaking of Sam Wicks, he has put together a cool feature on world renowned dancer and musician Suga Popwhich will be broadcast on The Music Mix on Thursday night. I remember, when I was a bit younger, my mates who were into b-boy shit were in total awe of Suga Pop (what’s up Cruchan!) because he’d apparently spent some of his youth in New Zealand before heading to the US and cracking it - consequently dude is a bit of a legend round these parts. Conveniently Dave is Pop’s cousin, so he did the interviewing.
It’s gonna be broadcast on Radio New Zealand National this Thursday night after the news at 11PM, peep this link here to find your local frequency.
Still reeling over the election results? Based on our totally accurate polling I’m assuming many of you aren’t pleased with the outcome. Sam Wicks sent me this politically-charged rap yesterday, John Key and side-kick Rodney Hide rubbing it in all of ya faces, lol.
Yeah, so now that the US election is done and dusted how ’bout that New Zealand one, eh? Our one lacks the hype of the US election but I suppose it’s still important, ha. Our candidates are for the most part pretty unappealing visually and I haven’t heard any inspiring speeches as yet, to be fair though the US election has been getting far more coverage here than our own one so maybe some Tina Fey impressions took precedence over some of our shit, lol. I’m a little undecided about what to do with my party vote eh, this MMP system requires a bit of thinking, in some ways it would be much more convenient if our elections were like the US ones, you only have two choices and it’s pretty much good versus evil. It’s not as clear cut here, ‘cept I know with absolute certainty that Rodney Hide is an cunt, so he can play the bad guy, fuck him!
I have a rough idea of who I’m gonna vote for but I’m not the most politically aware dude so if some of you guys wanna spout some shit in the comments section (anonymously if you prefer) that might aid in my decision making that would be cool. Even better if you could break down who the goodies and baddies are like the US that might make it a hell of a lot easier too.
Maybe we could one-up the US and start a movement to elect the first Maori Prime Minister of New Zealand… Winston Peters. He’s also a cunt though, so I s’pose he should be on the baddies team too, but at least he’s funny…
After unearthing the brilliance of Jan Terri’s hit single “Losing You” yesterday I went on an investigation to find out more about the creative genius behind the greatest music video ever made. I discovered the following video article from 2000 on the Daily Show. As you’ll find from the video Jan Terri is no one-hit wonder, she has recorded several hit songs with amazing visual accompaniments such as “My Little Brother” and the chilling “Get Down Goblin”…
And here it is the final joint from Home Brew’s “Last Week” EP. Hope you guys enjoyed that shit, and good on the boys for going out and making some shit happen.
When I’m hungover and bored I tend to surf the net looking for stupid shit to keep me entertained. Today I think I have found a rival to “It’s so cold in the D” for the best music video ever made, enjoy…
Thank god it’s Friday! That intro reminds me of when I used to work at a bank, I didn’t like working with any of those peeps but they’d always try and invite me for afterwork drinks at the Brownzy haha. I’d always have to use the funeral/wedding excuse to get outta that shit lol.
