Drake’s buzz seems to be reaching deafening proportions. His So Far Gone mixtape continues to convert male and female alike, and it’s remarkable to see a new act with followers as devout as in this vid. Song ain’t even got a video and they’re reciting every word – fucken mean. I been playing Drake’s material to the Mrs and she remarked how nice it was to hear someone new that could “rap good” again. I understood what she was getting at.
Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but after seeing a good portion of the acts highlighted in XXL’s top 10 freshman list in the flesh, gotta say the list is looking a bit patchy right about now. haha
I wanted to post this Wiz Khalifa song the moment I saw this video for it pop up, however after seeing him explain that the video was not meant to go public and that the director had gone ahead and dropped it without his approval I had to digress.
Personally I didn’t mind the vid. Though it definitely appeared unfinished, his reciting of the above line, followed by his Macauley Culkin action in the vid actually made me LOL. Plus, I liked the song so much I didn’t really need much visual accompaniment. His new mixtape dropped yesterday and on first impression it isn’t what I’d hoped for after hearing “Take Away” - but it was a must d/l strictly so I could get my hands on an mp3 of this song. This is the one if you like your sounds smooth.

James Toback’s gripping and compelling documentary is the story of Tyson’s troubled life, as hero and villain. With unprecedented access, Toback’s film sees Tyson talk about his life to the camera, and cuts the 30 hours of footage to give an insight into the way the former heavyweight champion sees the world.
I spent all Thursday night downloading this on uTorrent, but fortunately for you lot there’s now no need for that as you can stream the whole film above. As we’ve professed before, Iron Mike is an icon round these parts and this doco is a must watch for anyone with even the slightest interest in the man. Hate him or love him, he’s just a fascinating individual – I’m not even gonna get into the spoilers.. just get comfortable, get a snack and hit play.
shouts to Twitter P for the heads up, please feel free to join us on twitter also(twitter.com/shotthen)
edit: Appears worldstar have had the clamps put on them as it’s just streaming the trailer now. if you missed it the comment section might have an answer for you.
Been a bit slow cause I got the sneak preview while I was away, and I’m selfish like that. One of my top 3 songs off The Weekend get’s the single/video treatment and it’s a job well done. Now if we could get a video for “Breathe in, Breathe out” …
“Indulge Me” is the first single from Something Awesome produced by the bro’s Fire and Ice and featuring Devolo. Big thanks to everyone involved.

Of all the toy franchises of my youth, there was probably none that I played with more than G.I Joe. I liked Masters of the Universe, Transformers, Voltron etc.. but there was just something about those little G.I Joe figures – the way the joints could all move, the little rubberband thing in their core that would snap if you twisted it too much, the fact they were small and cheap so you could actually have a decent amount of them. They were just the shit.
Then there was the vehicles…. man, the fucken vehicles. I’d be asking Mum for what seemed like a year in advance for some of them shits. Subsequently, I’ve wondered why they haven’t tackled the idea of making a G.I Joe film earlier. Unlike the other 80’s franchises, G.I Joe seems like a relatively easy one to cash in on – they make army/war shit all the time. Seems much simpler than trying to tackle films about 20 foot transforming robots etc. Anyways, this trailer looks cute and I’m catching it regardless.
On another note, check this list of the 20 stupidest G.I Joe Vehicles ever and count how many you owned. We had 4 of them, and funnily enough the first one my mum ever bought me is #1 on the list. Well done mum.
Props to F&I
.. in THE SKYYY”
Some of the late police might already be up on this, but if it’s slipped under your radar thus far, this is a song I’m backing to the utmost. “In the sky” is a song by B.o.B – I first noticed him pop up with a catchy little number called “Haterz” which I checked for mainly cause Rich Boy was on it. Then he did that feature on “Top of the world” with T.I and Ludacris which was a bit of an abortion really. The beat was gay and his hook was the worst thing on there. Subsequently I hadn’t been compelled to click no links when I’ve seen his name poppin up on various internets.
However, this song changes all that. The Outkast influence is obvious, but refreshing. When you consider how big Outkast are, it’s remarkable how few acts there are that seem to follow in their footsteps… but you could find a new rapper who raps like Jeezy or Jigga every day, ha. Anyways the 3/4 stomp of this is reminiscent of “The Whole World” in a good way, and the hook is catchy as fuck. Mean shit bro.
Initially I didn’t have the urge to check this out being that it was a bunch of remixes, but upon J Brown’s recommendation I hooked up the download and I’m very impressed.
Not quite as essential as the Can’t Tell Me Nothing mixtape was, but the one new track(”Sky High”) from Kid Cudi is nice, and there’s a new Big Sean verse tacked on somewhere too. The rest is remix fare across the board, some true school hip-hop shit, some ragga dancehall, some house, some borderline funky-mixes lol.
Couple highlights for me were the Kenny Dope remix of “Addiction”, I always felt the o.g was dope but slightly underappreciated cause the tempo and groove weren’t standard enough. Kenny’s take on it reminds me of some early 90’s Crystal Waters shit. Homecoming Discotech remix is my shit too (lol), they both work in bringin non-dance songs to the dance floor.
.. and oh yeah “Champion” over the “Mama Said Knock You Out” break. Ha.
Good shit for your summer get togethers.
