Street Fighter 2 HD

Shot to James for putting me onto this. That’s a screenshot from the Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix(ha) they’re developing. You really need to click on the image to get an idea of how fucking glorious it is looking. See this blog for more. They’ve got some footage of it being played but it’s handycam from a distance so it just end’s up looking the same as normal.

To put this all in perspective, watch this vid and see how far we’ve come.

Street Fighter 4 Trailer

For those who haven’t already seen it, heres the trailer for Street Fighter 4. Obviously not in-game footage but I’m hopin the graphic quality isnt dissimilar. Im leaning towards the folk who are hoping for a 2d fighter, as the EX series is straight rude and Tekken has 3d mechanics on lock so hard I cant imagine anyone else coming close.

I’m gonna do a few more posts about Street Fighter 2 and its significance in the coming weeks, been toying with the idea of a shotthen.com SF2 tournament even(on Hyperfight of course :P ) so anyone who’s interested in that sort of carry on, let it be known.

Alex da kid

reviewalexkiddmiracleworldsms-2.jpg

I used to hate dumb cunts at school that called Alex Kidd, Alex da kid. You may not have had them at your school but I had plenty of them at mine. These would be the same kids who said Guile did ‘Tonic boom’ on Street Fighter and that you could pick up the rock and throw it on Chun Li’s stage.*SMH

Anyways, my flatmate found THIS SITE after we had a discussion about the N.E.S and Sega master system. I’ve read somewhere that at that point Nintendo had something like 80 – 90% of the console market in the world and when I went to the U.S as a child it reinforced that theory. Nintendo was fucking everywhere. Contrast that to home though, and you were hard pressed to find kids who had even played a Nintendo let alone owned one. Sega RAN shit in our little country and continued to do so up until Playstation came along and fucked the game up. Alex Kidd in Miracle world was a gem of a game that came built into the Sega master system 2. Looking at it today I realise its basically an inferior bite of Super Mario Brothers, but at least for most NZ 80’s babies – Alex Kidd is THE platform game. The jump off. If you’ve lived in the shame of never clocking it here’s your chance ..

Mortal Kombat Armageddon on Wii

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

I’ve been playing the new Mortal Kombat joint on Wii this afternoon. Using the Wii remote definitely adds a whole new dimension to the game and I probably wouldn’t enjoy the game if I had to use regular controls. Check out this demo of the game by one of Mortal Kombat’s creators Ed Boon it’s pretty cool if not a little nerdy…
