Everybody remembers this book right? This looks dope!

I just peeped this on NR a moment ago, Redman & Method Man featuring UGK, it’s a no-brainer really a bunch of rap legends collaborating, you must cop this!
An observation that I’ve made over the past few years is that Bun B always starts his raps with the phrase “Well it’s the…” followed by a statement about being trill, true to form he does exactly that on this joint. Despite the predictability of the first line of his raps I still think Bun B is awesome. It’s funny ‘cos I always thought that his habit was really obvious but whenever I’ve mentioned it to mates they were totally oblivious to it.
Anyways, peep this joint it’s really dope, kinda reminiscent of Big Boi’s and the Purple Ribbon Allstar’s “Kryptonite” joint.
“eat our shit and suck our dick you hoe ass bitches!”
Too many quotables in this one, shouts to Just Blaze and P-Money for bringing this one to my attention.
There’s been a slew of videos from last week’s SXSW festival appearing on the blogosphere in the last few days. SXSW is traditionally known as an indie rock festival but it is evident that this perception is changing with an insane roll call of hip hop acts at this years festival including Kanye West, Common, Erykah Badu, Bun B, Big Boi, Raekwon, and Kid Cudi (and thats just scratching the surface). If you didn’t already know Shot Then’s own David Dallas performed at the festival and below is a video of him performing ‘Get Out The Way’ there.
I couldn’t be there but the next best thing is watching the footage that’s been popping up, I watched the G.O.O.D. Music showcase live stream on Sunday and that shit looked bonkers. One of the coolest videos I’ve seen is of Texan legend Bun B performing at the Austin Music Hall who had the audience lapping up every last word, peep the crowd rapping Pimp C’s ‘Big Pimpin” verse!
Anyways, I suggest hitting up Nah Right, TSS or Rap Radar over the next few days to keep up with all the dope footage that’s been dropping.

Smashproof have delivered their debut album “The Weekend” today! In a sense The Weekend is a concept album in that it chronicles the boys’ weekend from knock-off on Friday afternoon through to Mondayitis. I copped it this morning and have given it a few listens, this is a solid album!
My picks from this album are “The Weekend” and “Breathe In, Breathe Out” with Ethical. The title track “The Weekend” is by far my favourite joint from the album. The beat knocks on this one, I copped the iTunes version so I don’t have the liner notes but I’m assuming that this is a Shuko beat. Special mention for Mr. Sicc on “I Could Take You There”, I think I could have gone without T-Pain though, lol. I haven’t really got much else to say other than cop this album, it’s well worth the purchase.
*Shouts to Nicole and Natalie, holding it down for Glenfield!

How could I not blog about Stacey Jones and the Warriors’ thrilling come-from-behind (twice) win yesterday. That was probably the most exciting game I’ve seen since the World Cup final or the Warriors’ last-minute win against the Storm in the playoffs last year. Yesterday’s game wasn’t really for the purists – there was a shitload of errors and penalties – but there’s no denying it was exciting. Even the usually critical Phil Gould, writing in the Sydney Morning Herald, was full of praise for this game.
The best part about this win from the Warriors’ standpoint will be Stacey Jones’ performance. It’s pretty remarkable that he’s been out of top-flight football for 18 months (and the NRL for even longer) and can just waltz back onto the field and play a starring role. Besides setting up two crucial tries, he almost set up Nathan Fien for another one near the line and provided a crucial kick in the dying stages that got us another set of six. I can’t lie – I was skeptical about Jones’ return, but if he can hang back like he did yesterday and just play his hand when it’s needed, then we got ourselves a premiership team on our hands. Shot Jonesy – a living legend of Kiwi sport.
Sidebar: How useless are the Blues… fuuuck. And how much stinker is the standard of the Super 14 compared with the NRL? Not even comparable.

So it seems Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek aka Reflection Eternal are in the process of recording a new album to finally follow up their classic debut album from 2000 (nine years goes by fast huh!). They popped up to Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg‘s Juan Epstein podcast to discuss all sortsa shit and perform a few joints too. This ep was recorded last Wednesday and Ciph and Rosenberg have been teasing fans since, it was worth the wait though, one of the best Juan Eps yet. The most interesting part of the discussion for me was when they break down how they first hooked up. The discussion about Hi-Tek’s hustling days was really insightful too, I recall Hi-Tek making a comment a few years ago ’bout how people thought he was soft or whatever because of the music he made with Kweli, so it kinda puts that shit it into perspective.

Be prepared to experience three minutes and 59 seconds of pure win! Shouts to Penfold for putting us onto Aussie’s answer to “It’s So Cold In The D!”

The Home Brew crew have returned with another EP, a follow-up to their “Last Week” EP and a prelude to their forthcoming album. The EP is called “Summer Ale” and as is typical of Home Brew is fashionably late; Summer ended bout two and a half weeks ago lol. The EP is six tracks in length and has everything we’ve come to expect from the boys: off-key singing, self-deprecating humour and loads of alcohol and weed. Hit the link below to download the entire EP in 320kbps glory.
