i’ll be ….
.. in THE SKYYY”
Some of the late police might already be up on this, but if it’s slipped under your radar thus far, this is a song I’m backing to the utmost. “In the sky” is a song by B.o.B – I first noticed him pop up with a catchy little number called “Haterz” which I checked for mainly cause Rich Boy was on it. Then he did that feature on “Top of the world” with T.I and Ludacris which was a bit of an abortion really. The beat was gay and his hook was the worst thing on there. Subsequently I hadn’t been compelled to click no links when I’ve seen his name poppin up on various internets.
However, this song changes all that. The Outkast influence is obvious, but refreshing. When you consider how big Outkast are, it’s remarkable how few acts there are that seem to follow in their footsteps… but you could find a new rapper who raps like Jeezy or Jigga every day, ha. Anyways the 3/4 stomp of this is reminiscent of “The Whole World” in a good way, and the hook is catchy as fuck. Mean shit bro.

That song’s killer, definitely the closest thing to Outkast that’s yet been done. You’re right though, outside of like Field Mob or Nappy Roots (who did their own country as versions), no one’s really run with their thing. Maybe it’s too fruity for regular street rappers. I dunno.
Anyway, Haters was awesome, and Generation Lost worked for me too, but are you serious about Top Of The World? I love that song, the big unwieldy, drunken hook, dumb buzzing beat, the whole thing is a good part of why Paper Trail starts so strong. Yep.

Argh.. I can’t stand Top of the world ay. That hook annoys the shit outta me. That bein said I think Paper Trail was the best hip hop album of 08.
