Thanks for the laughs Billy T!

This is something I’ve been meaning to post up for a while, inspired by a blog post by my mate in London a few weeks ago I spent an afternoon watching Billy T. James videos on Youtube. Billy T. was the man eh, we’ve got Flight Of The Conchords and what not taking over the world these days but to me there will never be another comedian that comes close to Billy T, he put on for Aotearoa!

The following is my all-time favourite Billy T clip, check it out and share your favourite videos and memories in the comments yo…

The skits I’ll never forget are the ones with the white settlers speaking with Billy T and the ‘natives’… one where they teach the Maori to say ‘air hair lair’, the one where he turns his taiaha around & asks if they take Visa, the one where the settlers trade muskets etc with the Maori “some glue for your children”. The man was the Dave Chappelle of Maoridom/NZ. Makes me wanna go out and buy a black singlet and yellow towel for the summer.

^^Yeah, those are the skits that most people I’ve hit up remember him for, those and the “where did I get my bag from?” skit.

Haha yeah. I vaguely remember one about home handyman type tips… like using an old TV for a microwave and pulling out your draws in the kitchen instead of using a step ladder to get up to the high cupboards.

“I’m half Scot, half Maori. One half wants to get pissed and the other doesn’t want to pay for it”

Buwahaha crack up at the comment about opening your drawers and using them as a step ladder….Fuck – we used to do that as kids!!!! His signature laugh reminds me of my dad and most of my uncles…lol…
