Nas - “Untitled” LP
I’m gonna assume a lot of you good folks out there are net savvy enough to have the new Nas album, “Untitled”, so what’s your thoughts on it so far?
I still haven’t had enough time to properly digest the whole thing, but on current impressions it feels like a near 5-micer to me, with the potential to be a classic (yeah I said it) - especially if it sparks something of a revolution in the current hip hop climate from dancing to thinking. I had doubts whether Nas could carry the ‘nigger’ concept for a whole album, but I think he’s largely achieved it and in the process kicks some real knowledge and gives listeners a lot of food for thought. Tracks like America, Sly Fox and Black President provoked more thinking in me than maybe any other songs I’ve ever heard. Aside from the political and social commentary, and his ability to stick to the theme (most of the time at least), it was also awesome - and a relief - that the beats are on point too. Breathe, Y’all My Niggas, Testify and Untitled are the shit I’m jamming the most on that front. The track with Game and Chris Brown, Make the World Go Round, sounds slightly outta place, but should make a good follow up single to Hero (see vid down bottom). I’m a Nas fan so I could be biased, but so far overall I reckon Untitled is the shit. It’s grown folks music: mature and intelligent, with a conscience and a dope sound. Agree or disagree?
Oh and sorry for no album link, don’t wanna risk getting Shot Then shut, shut ‘em down, but it’s outta our hands if it ends up in the comments section

I only listened to Hip Hop is Dead twice so I haven’t been psyched to check out any of the new Nas shit, after readin your review though I could be persuaded.

This album is a lot better than Hip Hop is Dead. The first track, “Queens Get The Money” is straight fire, Fried Chicken with Busta is a crack up and The Game makes a note worthy appearance with the new hook man Chris Brown on Make the World go round. Only wish he didn’t drop that Dj Khalil track that was posted on here a while back and I wish he used some better producers. Hopefully an acapella version will drop somewhere down the line.

Not at all a die hard Nas fan, but shit had to eat my words after hearing that ish..hella dope, classic in the making for sure, only complaint would be like the above review, that joint with Chris Brown and The Game, was a bit whack. Sly Fox and Y’all My Niggers are on repeat at the moment. I’m still pretty speechless after hearing this, damn.
