All you aspiring artists out there, heres a chance to flex your skills. Game a.k.a the human canvas has got a contest going on Imeem to celebrate the release of his new album L.A.X. where he’s letting fans design his next tattoo. All you gotta do is go here and upload an image of your design. There’s already some crack up shit there as evidenced by the design above. After Reks blog, I’m waiting on some cheeky cunt to draw up the Ultimate Warrior mask.

In more Game news, you gotta give him his props for killing this “Aint Sayin Nuthin” Remix. Say what you will about him, but his improvement as a rapper is undeniable.

Slick and I spent the early hours of Saturday morning annoying Wadams and playing skits of the Madd Rapper, so it was quite appropriate to find this new interview with him - a.k.a D dot Angelettie over on HipHopDX. Over the weekend we got into discussion about album skits, and came to the general consensus that the Madd Rapper skits are some of the few that have actually remained funny with repeat plays. Unlike the College Dropout or Late Registration ones for example. Anyways this interview is dope for anyone wanting insight into the Bad Boy golden era, and don’t try and front either.. I know the majority of people who read this blog came up on Life after Death and No Way Out. He also speaks on the Kanye “ghost-production” rumours etc.

Check: D Dot Interview

Oh yeah, hit us up with what you’s reckon are the funniest skits of all time in the comments. Madd Rapper and 20 dollar sack pyramid are what we came up with over the weekend.

Massive props to AK47 on the Muckmouth forum for unearthing this. I’ve watched this daily for the last 2 weeks, and I’m pretty sure 80% of what comes out of my mouth is a quote from - or a reference to, this video. I figure it’s only right I inflict it on you folk also. Mike Tyson is a cultural icon.

That’s a big boy…

“my pockets too fat, look like Sam Cassell head”

Whoa, this is my jam right now. I’ve had it on repeat since peeping it on NR last night. We’ve done a couple posts regarding Wiz Khalifa “Say Yeah” before and it has to be said as cheese as that sample is, it’s the only reason any of us paid attention to the song in the first place. When I saw that the remix had a different beat and was produced by Focus of Aftermath fame I figured it kinda defeated the purpose, however this shit is fucken smooooooth bradas. No new Wiz verse but Bishop and Glasses have some hilarious quotables. I like this - a lot. Anyone who couldn’t stand the gimmick of the original should give this a look in, say yeah.

Video: Ethical featuring Bradd Marquis ‘Head On My Shoulders’

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Been waiting for this one, this here is the video for arguably the best joint on Ethical’s new album Ages Turn’. Actually had a sneak peak at this one last year at Sid’s album release party, the video was filmed when Bradd Marquis was in New Zealand for the Too Much Pain’ video. Directed by Andy Morton. Shot!

Song: Nas - Black President

Nas & wifey

This song is all over the blog scene, but I felt it necessary to share on our own site for those that might miss it. This is some pretty powerful stuff from the man Nas on the possibility of Barack Obama becoming the US’ first black president. Throw in some uplifting Obama quotes and a ‘Pac sample for the hook and this track’s a winner. I know Nas isn’t always the most effective at getting his point across, but he manages to on this for the most part. Have a listen below or download here.

And if you have a link to the Green Lantern mixtape this is from, hook it up in the comments section.

“Good with math but I skipped it in school
Aint go to shop but I’m sick with them tools
Shit, that’s why I’m kicked out of school
Fuck Jay’s by da locker, come and holla, uhh”
Young Chris - “Think it’s a game”

The Young Gunz first album Tough Luv is kinda symbolic to me as the end of an era for Roc-a-fella. In my eyes that was the last album where there was still that definitive ROC sound(albeit with some new producers), and the relationships within the camp hadn’t totally broken down yet. Jay and Dame hadn’t fully split and State Property seemed like it was on the up. Alas it was not to be - and ever since I don’t think anyone who was part of that golden era has ever been able to put out material as good as they did in the Roc’s hey. Hov included.

“Set it off” - the first single from the last Young Gunz lp was so wack that I didn’t even bother to check out the album, so admittedly as much as I love some of Young Chris past material I wasn’t exactly falling over myself to check out this new single either. However I’ve been pleasantly surprised. This song has stayed getting spins in the car and has given me a healthy dose of nostalgia for the good ole days. I could see this song cracking it with an NZ audience too, we all know how Aotearoa folk are suckers for that pseudo reggae shit.

How rich is this guy ?

LOL, you really gotta give Kanye his props. What other artist in the current climate throws away videos that look as costly as the one above does. While 50 is trying to get maximum views for handycam vids with Scarface cutscenes, this guy is scrapping mini movies. Props to Deena for linking me up, I hadn’t seen this around.
