Poker Stars
I don’t know if you’ve noticed this phenomenon, or if perhaps it has occurred because myself and the circle of friends I have are getting older but damn - it seems like EVERYONE is playing poker right now. Whether at home with mates, online, or down at the weekly poker comp at the pub. I’d noticed over the last 3 years people I knew were starting to play and the invites for a game were occurring more frequently, but being that I didn’t have any money I figured it was a waste of time. I also didn’t give a fuck about cards - only games I could play were Fish and Last Card, can’t do no tricks, and my shuffling sucks.
However a week or 3 back the lure of poker reached critical mass as even my sister was having people over for games. “Dont you know how to play Hold Em ? I thought you played in your video ?” - WTF I thought, this is embarassing. Later that week I added Texas Hold Em Poker as an app on Facebook just so I could ‘learn to play’. 6 hours and a couple Full Houses later and I’m already thinking “I should start playin for real money”, so I can totally see how people get addicted to this shit. I’ve got friends who I put onto the Facebook version that are already playing for real loot on Poker stars, and on a night in H-town the other week me and Slick stayed up watching Poker on ESPN till 5 am. I always wondered who the fuck would watch that shit when I’d see the ads on tv - as it turns out, it’s people like me 
Anyways for those folk that play let us know the deal/where you’re playing at. Let’s get a shotthen poker club going, and oh yeah join the shotthen Facebook group if you’re up on there. Play on playaaaaa.

haha so true i thought i was the only one who watched chan,brunsen,sexton,moneymaker n the boys n girls battling it out for the moneyyyyy$$$$$$$… way to much money though!!!!!

I’m always up for a game provided I’ve got the fund$$$.
I’ve been playing a lot online (Poker Stars, Party Poker, Full Tilt) and I’m sure that sometimes the software takes you out of tournaments on purpose. Take for example my results last week…
Monday I came 2nd in the Trey Nations free roll on Party Poker (qualified for some bigger Tournament on Sunday)
Tuesday, first hand in and I get pocket Kings… naturally I’m all in, along with 2 other suckers…. some fucker limped in with 7,2 (haha i thought!)…. flop comes… 722… get the fuck outta here!
Wednesday I was taken out when I had pocket aces…
Thursday I was again shafted royally by the software… I was playing tight and every good hand I played I got dicked on.
I’m up for a real money game for sure… this online shit is rigged, I’m sure!

Haha, great post. We had a 10 person poker league up and running last year. PPK (Papatoetoe Poker Kings), yo!
$10 buy-in, tourney style, 2nd wins double the buy-in, 1st takes the rest. Died out this year, though.

We got a league going here. Been going for just over a year and it’s become pretty well known. We started off with six players, now we’re turning players away at the door. Crazy.
I’ve noticed that since I started my break from drinking I’ve been playing 100 times better. Haha. Had four flushes in a row last week. Was mean.

i would if i had face book, but face book ain’t right. it’s all about world poker tour on the celly.
i agree though, poker is taking over new zealand. every time i’m at at the liquor store buying for poker the people are like “bit of poker tonight aye?”. there’s tonnes of games in this town. all on the thursday too. wish me luck.
