I’d never heard of this technique, but I saw this article over at BoingBoing about it and was intrigued. Check :

The Sullivan nod is a sales technique used to create a subconscious suggestion to a customer to purchase one particular item out of a list of like items. It is used most frequently by bartenders and waiters when reciting lists of items (such as alcohol or wine) in the hopes of getting the customer to select a particular brand.

It gets better tho:

Studies have concluded that 60–70% of the time, a Sullivan nod will result in the customer choosing the ‘recommended’ item

Taken from Wikipedia which is not always a beacon of truth.. but still. Think of the possible applications of this technique. Children can pull this shit on parents when looking through toystore catalogues for presents. Lames can now start approaching women in clubs with lists of 5 favourable outcomes …. cant lose bradas.

U-N-I - Beautiful Day

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

I don’t know much about these guys other than they’re from LA and this song is one of the best I’ve heard in a long time. It’s sort of Pharcyde-ish, laidback summery shit and reminds me of my favourite era of hip hop, 93 - 97. The video is cool as well and reminds me of a slowed down (and less eventful, heh) version of Xzibit’s What You See Is What You Get vid. Check out U-N-I’s Myspace for more tracks and information.

Far, this guy is all up in the mix at the moment ay. A ’scientist’ is alleging the chick had the equivalent of 14 - 16 drinks the night of the crime. Oh, and a line of coke too. You can read more details here.

No judgement of his character, I really just wanted to post this as an excuse to write about how me and overthebolts saw this dude when we were watching the skate nationals last year. Admittedly it was pretty warm, but it wasnt even December yet. It was indoor and everyone else was fully clothed. Then this dude comes through on his own buzz, shirt off, incredible hulk as. Shit looked hilarious, this he-man dude strolling round like the mack amongst 15 year old kids in element t shirts. Hard case bro.

For those of you that can already clock normal tetris up like this dude, you can now literally step it up to the next dimension. I had a crack at this and I was fucking hopeless, I can’t do that spacial shit. But I’m lame at normal tetris too, anything where you dont do fireball or dragon on the joystick aint really my deal. Some of you guys might be good though. Play it HERE

Millenium Flow

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Heard this Wiz Khalifa song a lil while ago and it cracked me up so much I felt inspired to take a trip down memory lane. Those of us that remember the end of the 90’s and the turn of the millenium would also remember the landscape of popular music in this country being a somewhat different place. It wasnt uncommon to see Euro house/trance/dance/rave/electronic songs(my labelling is probably all wrong, ya know any *oonst oonst type shit) topping the charts. At least one person you knew had a copy of the ‘lagered’ compilation, and even mates who were strictly into hardcore metal or rap were talkin bout going to ‘raves’ where there were mean chicks.

Some of it was dece, most of it was awful. I’m sure you fullas can remember some other crack up shit. Hook it up in the comments.

To be honest I’m quite surprised to be hearing a new song from N.E.R.D, being that I recall reading an interview with them where Pharell was saying how disappointed he’d been with the label’s support of both the N.E.R.D records. That combined with the disappointing reception for his solo album had me figuring we wouldnt hear from them again.

I’m glad they’re back however. Admittedly ‘In my mind’ wasnt really the shit, and I never owned ‘Fly or die’, but ‘In Search of’ was pretty fucken mean, and I’ve found myself liking it more and more over time. This new track caught me off-guard, but on further listen its pretty live. Chicks/cheerleaders will love this sorta shit. I’m all about the bridge though, soon as the Neptunes get on the keys its always on brotha.
