Lauryn London is a ten
This delightful dime has been inducing erections since Pharell’s “Frontin’” clip. This year she solidified her spot as hottest chick in the game in a slew of flicks, clips and men’s magazine spreads. Yes, shawty is a teeeeen, heeeeeey, a teeeeeeeen.
Alicia Keys and Kanye West are good as (formerly just good)
On their third studio LPs these two proved they are incapable of making bad music. I think people take for granted how rare it is for artists to make three great albums in a row (in hip-hop you can count them on two hands). Props to them for being the opposite of shit.
Lil’ Wayne is an overrated MC (at the moment at least)
Don’t get me wrong, Weezy is top 5 status in my books, but as usual with most MCs they don’t get their worldwide recognition till they’re past their talent apex. Mainstream media is waxing philosophical about some sub-par leaked joints, but in reality 05/06 Wayne > 07 Weezy by a shitload. His best performance was a song he didn’t even rap on.
MTV is madness
If you have Sky, you know 6-0 is the go to channel. Though some get mad they don’t play much music videos anymore, their shows are must watch shit, the same way you slow down and stare at a car crash scene. Where else can you see…
- Billion dollar kids telling their mum to get fucked cause they got last year’s Phantom
- Gay dudes telling a mother they wanna fuck the shit out her son… At 4pm.
- The most popular bi-sexual on Myspace trying to pick a soul mate
- Two ex’s bunting in a room, not knowing their current partners are watching
- “Heeeee goooone!”
Andre 3000 is the best rapper alive
Jay may be Jordan, but he’s closer to 2000’s Wizards than 90’s Bulls at the moment. Partly influenced by Wayne’s 06 dominance, 3 Stacks dropped the Prince persona for a sec and started spitting again. The result was the 5 best verses of the year, hands down. Go three thousand.
Youtube runs my life
Whether it be Saigon riding his bouncer koala style or the “I Like turtles!” kid, Youtube provides subject matter for about 78% of my conversations and about 82% for overall entertainment consumption. “Some stay dry and others feel the paaaaain…”
Khaled is an annoying bastard
It all started when 41 pointed out to me the hilarity of Khaled holding the umbrella for Joe in the “Make It Rain” clip. I though it reached its zenith on the “I’m So Hood Remix” (Who? Weeeee nigga…. Im makin’ moo….. viiiies). But the true height of hilarity was Rick Ross’ “Speedin” clip (you mus’ be new or sumthin’ mehn…. We the best mehn….”). For the record “We The Best” was one of my favourites of ‘07.
