Third installment of the Rza interview

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Not as “contraversial” (re:Saigon) as the previous installment of Rza’s Kotori mag interview, lol. In this one Rza reminisces over his formative years as a producer and the equipment he acquired. The full interview should be available any day now…

Big Day Out 2008 second announcement

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Kool Keith aka Dr. Octagon

The second batch of BDO announcements were made this morning, there’s a couple of  new hip hop additions including some from outta left-field. Local additions include Scribe, no surprise there, and Dam Native have been added to the bill only days after their first live performance in a long time, Rimoni said that the gig was awesome and you can check out photos at his blog Clickclickclickclick. Two announcements that took me by surprise are Dr. Octagon with Kutmaster Kurt and Aceyalone. I’d be pretty keen to see crazy ass Kool Keith, I recall reading recently that he was gonna record an entire album about feces, lol.

New additions to BIG DAY OUT 2008: Spoon, Brand New, Anti-Flag, Carl Cox, Kate Nash, Shy Child, Enter Shikari, Operator Please, Unkle (live), Krafty Kuts & MC Dynamite, Die! Die! Die!, The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello acoustic), Dr Octagon with Kutmaster Kurt, Aceyalone, Op Shop, Pluto, Scribe, Liam Finn, Tiki Tane, Havoc*, Collapsing Cities, Bleeders, Supergroove, The Checks and Dam Native

See the BDO website for more info.

Kanye’s got balls

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Kanye spoke publicly on his mother’s passing at a show he did in Brussels on Sunday night. Given that his mother passed away just over a week ago and he broke down onstage the night before you have to admire the dude for having the strength to do this.

And the winner is… Liam Finn

Friday, November 16th, 2007

So the bNet’s went down tonight, the hip hop award went to Mangere Bridge representative Coco Solid.

The big winner on the night however was Liam Finn, who won something like six awards, well deserved too, I dug that Second Chance joint that he did.

May the hate commence…

Behind the scenes on Ethical’s new video

Friday, November 16th, 2007

This is the 3rd installment of Ethical’s “weekly” video diary, it features some behind the scenes footage of the video for Eth’s first single “Talk of the Town” which features Roc Raida(!!!) from the X-ecutioners on the cut. The video diary is a bit long and drawn out this week but there’s enough interesting shit to get me excited about the video. Also peep the MTC blog for what appears to be the cover art for the single.

Smell yo dick?!?!?!

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Oh man, I just saw this video on Miss Info’s blog this morning and couldn’t help but post this (NSFW).

*SMH!

Fella’s, if you getting some loving on the side make sure to pack some soap when you roll out to the club, lol.

Kings of Welly

Friday, November 16th, 2007

flight_of_the_conchord.jpg
Ever noticed how you talk to some Welly people and they’re in denial about how windy it is ? Fuck, it’s annoying. You’re sitting in a room that’s sounding like ‘Howls Moving Castle’ outside, and you’re like “far it’s pretty windy ay ?” … then they’ll say something like “Um, no more windy than anywhere else mate” .  :| Ay ? fuck off.

Anyways, 2 dudes who wouldnt do such an annoying thing are Brett and Jermaine from ‘Flight of the Conchords’. Winners of the ‘Wellingtonian of the year’ award at last nights ‘Wellys’. Ive never heard of the ‘Wellys’ before, but it makes me jealous we dont have an ‘Aucks’ awards. Congrats to the bro’s on the award, and Conchords fans can further rejoice in the fact a second HBO series is on the way. Mean. Oh yeah, and Murray should’ve been up in the mix for the award too.  Maybe he’s from Aucks.

David Sides, a pianist who has a habit of covering contemporary R&B hits, has put together a medley of joints from Kanye’s Graduation album, it’s pretty impressive. Props to KanYe Talk.

Rest in peace Donda West
