myspace_fell_off.jpg

Ho-ly, how wack is Myspace nowadays ? That place is just spam city. Macy’s this, free ringtone that. If they arent trying to lure you with the curiosity of who’s viewed your page, they’re trying to lure you with some chick in her undies webcamming it up. Mean.

I joined Facebook a little while back after telling my mate it looked rude. I thought it was too complicated at first. Then I thought it was the best shit out, cause I found some old mates. Now I pretty much just use it to play Pac-man(102,000 .. holla). I get sick of all the fucking invites, but it’s still preferable to all tHe wRiTInGZ L1ke Th1Z on Bebo. What’s everyone elses ’social networking’ preference ?

Ok, maybe not quite. But still, after hearing ‘Gutted’ for the first time the other day I was sold on the fact that Jay and Beans make the mean shit together. It wasnt till I actually got to thinking about their various collab’s that I realised how many there were, and thats just tracks with strictly the 2 of them. Factor in the tracks with other ROC affiliates and it’s heat for days. Anyways, the following are my favourite Jay Z/Beanie Sigel collaborations. A quintessential beginners guide if you will :

Beanie Sigel feat Jay-Z - Gutted (New shit)
“…you rock gucci this and that but ya kids bummy, you lettin strangers claim em for income tax money”

Jay-Z feat Beanie Sigel - Streets is talkin (Jay-Z - Dynasty)
“.. the streets say Jigga can’t go back home, you know when I heard that? when I was back home”

Jay-Z feat Beanie Sigel - Where have you been (Jay-Z - Dynasty)
“..wanted to walk just like you, wanted to talk just like you, often mama said I looked too much and thought just like you, wanted to drink miller nips and smoke newports just like you, but you left me… now I’m goin to court just like you”

Beanie Sigel feat Jay-Z - It’s on (State Property - Chain gang vol 2)
“..B Seeg Fred Kreuger n*ggas, nightmare your medula n*gga, you scaaaared ? cause i grew wit Jigga”
p.s this song is quotable CITY

Beanie Sigel feat Jay-Z - Still got love  (Beanie Sigel - The Reason)
“.. I’m your mind, body and soul, your heart your flesh. Your alcohol your smoking results I’m a MESS… dad… still I love you no less dad. Hope you didnt think success would make me less mad.”

Damn. Hot on the heels of American Gangster we got new albums from Free AND Beanie(Oh and dont forget this Memph Bleek vid that sounds like Rubberband Man). Shit’s almost feeling like the early 2000’s. Now all we need is for the Dips to get their swag back, Peedi Peedi to get a full length, and Oschino and Sparks to spit more flame(”I think we was dancin to.. uhhhh… Fiesta remix”).

Aint fully digested this Free album yet, but I like that he’s kept with the sample-heavy style he’s had in the past as opposed to pulling a Fat Joe. Funnily enough our own Slick Van XL has had two songs with samples the same as Free has used on this. Great minds and all that. One of the songs im feelin is this one right here which uses the same sample as PNC’s Love Letter Interlude. Check it out.

Mario = king

wii_super_mario_galaxy.jpg

So the new Mario game is out now for Wii - Super Mario Galaxy. My routine when i go round to Glacier’s house generally goes something like this. Walk in the door > say hello > walk to lounge > turn on xbox 360 > play Halo 3 online for the next 2 hours. Sprinkling it with the odd grunt of conversation here and there. Last time I went round though, I was gutted to find no credit left on the Xbox live account, what a fucking disaster. I love Halo 3, but single player doesnt even feel like a game after playing online… it feels like a chore.

Due to the dire circumstances, Glacier’s suggested I play the new Mario game they’d acquired recently on Wii. I havent played a Mario game since … sheeit, Mario Kart maybe? And I was a bit skeptical as to how enjoyable manoeuvering the cartoon plumber could be, especially when compared with shooting shotguns and throwing grenades at various cunts online.

How wrong I was.

The game is fucking mean-ah. Admittedly I view Mario with a somewhat rosy tint being that the N.E.S was the first console I owned, but nostalgia aside.. Nintendo really know how to make games. The controls with the Wii-mote are easy enough for your mum to play, yet its still fun as for even the staunchest gaming dude. I aint even gonna get into the in-depth reviewing I’ll leave that to the pros here(Peep the numbers). What I will say though is the game is worth playing just to get to the ‘Ray Surfing’ stage. Fun-est shit out! See below.

p.s Is it just me or does it look like they bit the whole Mario flying through the stars thing for Kanyes album artwork.

halfkast

After the disappointment of Idlewild this track has restored my faith in Outkast. I can’t wait for their next album now, whenever that may be, especially since Andre’s been killing all his guest spots lately too. By the way, this joint’s off DJ Drama’s Gangsta Grillz album. Enjoy.

Scribe and P-Money

P-Money has upped what he calls his “favourite track that didnt make the Rhymebook album on Full Disclosure.  The joint is ill and features P in the role of back-up vocalist, lol. It’s not likely that you’ll hear this joint anywhere else so head on over to Full Disclosure to peep some free and exclusive Scribe and P-Money goodness.

from Stuff:
Sounds silenced by $20m debt
Sounds, the biggest national chain of music stores, has shut its doors after its parent company collapsed, owing its bank and other creditors almost $20 million.

Damn. Now admittedly progress is progress, and I’m part of the problem being I buy maybe 1 CD a year. But still, it saddens me to think of normal people out in the burbs having The Warehouse as their only option to physically shop for music. Not really much of a ‘music buzz’ walking through those aisles. CD’s all out of order. Random appliances, garden tools and fisher price toys etc lying on the floor. Bummer.

Ethical live at the Block Party

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

The fourth installment of Eth’s video blog, this one includes footage from his performance at the Urbanology “Block Party”. That night was really cool, the emphasis was on playing whatever we felt like so I was playing early ’90s hip house and booty bass only minutes before Eth and Neesh did their thing. Ethical has announced that the release date for his forthcoming ‘Ages Turn’ album is april 7 2008, and to expect ‘Talk of the Town’ on radio and video within the next two weeks.

Oh yeah, shout outs to Shot Then too, woohoo, we must be doing something right :)

*also who gassed? Someone dropped their guts during Eth’s set and Truce Lee had a disgusted look on his face LOL
