The 2nd Annual Muckmouth Bikini Comp

So the crew over at Muckmouth are holding another bikini jam next month, Saturday 14 July at 4:20. Expect to see ’nuff hot girls strutting their stuff and plenty of drunken A, B and C-grade local celebs. Entertainment on the night will be provided by Mike Pipes & Bost1, Louie Knuxx, and David Dallas. Moet and Akademik will DJ the event.

There’s $500 for the first prize and girls that are interested in competing can enter by calling Alex on 021 682 526. I’m all for diversity so it would be great to see some women of colour or asian persuasion up in there. Hit up Muckmouth for more info.

Here’s a couple of pics from last year, there’s more here (be warned though some content isn’t work-safe).

Millie Holmes

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Millie

Paris Hilton. Lindsay Lohan. Nicole Ritchie. Millicent Holmes? Wait… who? Unless you used to watch Fast Crew’s I Got video on slow-mo, read Woman’s Day, or have watched an episode of Deal Or No Deal, chances are you’ve probably never seen Millie Holmes, but she’s alllll over the news today.

Jumping at the sight of a potential “celebrity” scandal TV networks and radio were going hard with the story today that Millie Holmes (that’s what they call her in the streets) was caught in possession of cannabis, some P and is also being charged for receiving stolen goods. So why was this story receiving so much attention? Not ‘cos of the severity of the charges, but simply because she’s the step-daughter of celebrity Paul Holmes. Man, is NZ desperate for celebrity gossip or what. It seems like the media is thirsting for NZ’s “Paris Hilton” or something, because this girl truly has no claim to fame other than her lineage – which is sorta ironic ‘cos Paul Holmes isn’t even her real dad, and her mum Hinemoa Elder is way outta the celeb game these days. I dunno why we’re so desperate to make stars outta people (look at Pop’s Ultimate Star – let it goooo Touchdown)… aaanyway I don’t wanna rave on about this and add to the ‘media coverage’ too much myself, so check out the Herald article if you wanna know more, HERE.

Thundercats .. the movie

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Transformers aint the only 80’s cartoon gettin the movie treatment. You may have heard the announcement that Thundercat’s is being made as we speak. For those that dont remember Thundercat’s was a story about humanoid/feline warriors from the planet Thundera battling Mumm-ra. A mummy who when provoked transforms into a body builder with sharp teeth. It was pretty much the best shit on TV, and channel 2 cancelled it for being ‘too violent’ . This was back when NZ had its morals in place and didnt show 20/20 specials on men who fuck dolls at primetime. Anyways, the trailer for the movie is up. Check it out, it looks mean

Transformers The Movie 28/06/07

So New Zealand gets the jump on the rest of the world, us kiwis will be able to see the new live action Transformers movie in ten days while the yankees have to wait until independence day (not to mention we’re 16 hours ahead of New York). I’ve seen the trailers and it looks pretty impressive, I’m hoping it’s not like Spiderman where I was totally wowed by the trailer but disappointed by the movie. In fact who’s distributing that movie in NZ? If they could take me to the premiere and hook up some kai I’ll give it an honest review so you can be spared the pain if I think it really sucks.

This video is just for those of you who don’t have time to go to the official Transformers movie website, the videos there are much better quality plus you can download them in HD.

T.I. feat. Wyclef – You Know What It Is

Monday, June 18th, 2007

In all honesty I think this joints a bit average, I’m a big T.I. fan but I think he needs to step his game up. The titles of his singles are always based on some cliche rap expressions like “what you know about that”, “big shit poppin’”, “you already know what it is”. You could prolly watch the latest hood DVD and guess what his next single will be, it’ll be some shit like “we in the building”, “shit is really official right now” or “it is what it is”.

*lol at T.I. looking shook in the presence of real shottas and mumbling out the phrase “you know what it is”.

Andrew Talley of Talley’s Frozen Food Ltd

So following the roasting that he got for workplace gender discrimination Andrew Talley of Talley’s Frozen Food Ltd let slip that women are best suited to roles that involve rubbing their genitalia against metal poles (reference PNC – Who Betta Than This?). Shit, talk about putting your foot in your mouth! The dumb motherfucker might as well have told the world how he really feels – women in the workplace are only good for eye candy and the odd blow job by the fish bins. Shit, why hide behind euphemisms?

I do agree to an extent that there are certain professions that lend themselves a particular gender but I don’t think filleting fish is one of them. He may have had more sympathy if he’s used some more tactful examples like say ‘dressing up as Santa Claus is a mans job’ (but that’s likely to change in my lifetime) or that ‘males modelling lingerie would be strange’.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon on Wii

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

I’ve been playing the new Mortal Kombat joint on Wii this afternoon. Using the Wii remote definitely adds a whole new dimension to the game and I probably wouldn’t enjoy the game if I had to use regular controls. Check out this demo of the game by one of Mortal Kombat’s creators Ed Boon it’s pretty cool if not a little nerdy…

Exclusive Common Interview by LJM

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

Common - BeShot Then regular LJM interviewed Common last year prior to his Big Day Out appearance in Auckland, his album ‘Be’ had only been out for a few months at that stage so they discussed that in between Com’s masticating. LJM used to be a co-host of the Trueschool Hip Hop Show alongside me and D-Form and this interview was originally broadcast there on January 19 2006, the night before Common’s performance at the Auckland Big Day Out. LJM will be back in Auckland later this month so you may hear her again on the Trueschool Show…

Does anyone know what Com’s eating? I’m guessing a steak sandwich followed by a large granny smith apple.
