The Biggest Merger Since FUBU and KFC

HIPHOPNZ Aotearaw Hip Hop Online

The hub of Aotearoa’s Hip Hop community online, HIPHOPNZ, has merged with local Hip Hop magazine Back2Basics.

I had a feeling something was brewing because we haven’t seen a new issue from Back2Basics since March this year, and it is no secret that Prodigal has struggled to regularly update the site recently (not to mention his horrendous spelling). Personally I think the merger is a great move for both parties and the online Hip Hop community, my only concern is that we’re gonna be bombarded with Alize advertising.

I’ve been frequenting HIPHOPNZ since day one and I check in everyday, major props are in order for Prodigal and Aria who have been holding down HIPHOPNZ off their own back since ‘99, their consistent effort has definitely paid off.

Prodigal explained the situation on the HIPHOPNZ forum this morning, click here to check it out.

This is great news. Mainly because the front page has been dead for ages (there’s a front page?!?!) and also it’s a great boost for New Zealand Hip-Hop. If it ever gets tempting to ditch the local content in the magazine, there’s always the merger with HHNZ to keep them honest. Not that I think that will ever need to happen.
Three thumbs up. I hope Prod & Aria finally make some money too.
